King Mohammed ends visit to Emirates, expected in Tunisia

King Mohammed VI left the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday heading for Tunisia at the end of a visit, during which he was received by UAE President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.

The UAE news agency, WAM, reported that the two leaders reviewed the brotherly ties binding Morocco and the UAE and studied best means to give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

Sheikh Zayed then hosted a dinner banquet in honor of King Mohammed VI.

The king had arrived on Monday in Abu Dhabi, coming from Saudi Arabia, where he performed Omra (minor pilgrimage) in the Muslim holy shrines in Mecca, visited the tomb of Prophet Mohammed in Medina and met with King Fahd Ibn Abdel Aziz of Saudi Arabia.

A Moroccan-Saudi release said King Mohammed VI conferred with King Fahd and with Saudi Crown Prince Abdallah Ibn Abdelaziz on bilateral relations.

The two sides affirmed will to continue efforts to further enlarge the scope of bilateral cooperation and to consolidate brotherhood ties in the service of the interests of the Arab and Islamic Ummah (nation).

King Mohammed is expected in Tunisia, third and last leg of his first trip abroad since he ascended the throne last July, following the demise of his father, the late King Hassan II.
