Jordan joins World Trade Organization

Originally published

Jordanian sources said that Jordan officially joined the World Trade Organization, stating that the decision of the organization's permanent council was unanimous concerning Jordan's membership in the international organization.

Jordan presented a request to join the organization five years ago, and it has exerted large efforts through the past years to achieve this through rounds of bilateral and multilateral negotiations.

Jordan's aim was joining the organization before the start of a new round of the commercial negotiations that were supposed to start from the failed Seattle conference.
