Originally published

The Muslim Brothers group in Syria has called for revealing the implications behind the assassination of Sheikh Amin Yakan in Aleppo on December 16 and called for "chasing the criminal and those who stand behind them."

The Muslims Brothers group's general observer, Ali Sader eddin al-Bayanouni, said in a statement, " t is very well-known to all that Sheikh Amin is one of the symbols of the Islamic movement in Syria, and he is known for his middle moderate stances. He was making good offices to achieve national reconciliation and to find a political solution for the crisis (during the 1980s) between the Muslim Brothers group and the Syrian regime for a very long time."

He added, "The criminal dimensions announced concerning this crime cannot abrogate the several questions on conditions of committing this crime and its implications, which indicate accusations to more than one side."

He added that the "absence of a moderate figure from the Syrian political arena like the figure of the deceased ..., at the current time, will have its adverse impact on the level of national relations at present and in future."
