India seeks to establish a project for producing bicycles in Iraq
The Indian Atlas Company for bicycles is trying to establish a joint project for its products in Iraq, aiming at expanding its activities in the Gulf area in Iraq and Iran, as well as in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.
A commercial source in the Indian embassy in Cairo said that attempts by Atlas-- which is considered one of the biggest companies in manufacturing bicycles-- are about its aim, especially in light of the Iraqi authorities' welcome for the bicycle factory project, which may help on reducing the use of cars, economizing the use of petroleum and its derivatives.
The source said that Atlas has lines for distribution in Africa after the great success of its products in Tanzania and Zambia.
Atlas produces 3.4 million bicycles annually among 10 million produced by India.
