Barak declares adherence to the necessity of Israel's withdrawal from the Golan

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak said for the first time yesterday that Israel must withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

In a meeting with some members of the One Israel bloc, Barak said he will discuss with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa during coming round of negotiations the possibility of making a timetable for the withdrawal dates in some parts of Golan Heights.

Another round of negotiations will be held between the two countries in Washington starting on January 3.
