Reopening petroleum pipeline between Iraq and Syria
Iraq agreed with Syria on reopening a petroleum pipeline with a capacity of 300,000 barrels daily that has been closed since 1980.
Iraq can currently export from the Iraqi harbor of El-Bakr on the Gulf and a pipeline that passes through Turkey to Jihan harbor on the Mediterranean Sea.
Iraq could increase its exporting capacity by adding 300,000 barrels daily that are already available through the Iraqi harbor of Khour El-Amia on the Gulf, which is currently not used.
Exports of Iraqi petroleum could be increased from nearly 600,000 barrels daily to nearly 2.9 million barrels daily for the coming year.
