Arafat visits Jordan

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is visiting Jordan today to hold discussions with King Abdullah Bin Hussein of Jordan that focus on the peace process and the situation in the area.

King Abdullah said yesterday that achieving a comprehensive peace cannot take place without giving back the Palestinians their rights, referring to resuming the negotiations on the Syrian - Israeli track.

A Jordanian source said that the Palestinian President asked the King to mediate with Syria in order to achieve coordination with the Palestinian leadership in the peace process.
