Hizbullah and the Washington negotiations

Originally published

The chairman of the political council of the Lebanese Hizbullah Party, Muhammad Raad, said that if an agreement is signed and the negotiators in Washington reach a result, the Lebanese resistance will move to react to the risks of the Zionist project from "the battlefields to the economic and political hegemony in the region."

In a speech quoted by the Monte Carlo radio in Beirut on Saturday, Raad considered "Washington's negotiations if they are ended in restoring the Golan and South Lebanon, it will not make peace, rather a settlement." He added that, "Such a settlement will not be eternal and will not push us to recognize the legitimacy of the Zionist entity."

The correspondence commented on Raad's statements, saying, "The statements of the Hizbullah officials came after the US and Israel asked Syria during the Washington negotiations to halt Hizbullah's operations against the Israeli occupation in south Lebanon."

The correspondent added that it is the first time in which Hizbullah, who carries out most resistance operations against the Israeli occupation, indicates its role after achieving peace, as it has always refused to define this role until Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon is maintained.
