Morocco welcomes with "satisfaction" the resumption of Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations.

The Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation department said in a release that Morocco welcomes with "satisfaction" the resumption of Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations and hopes that the Palestinian issue, which is the central element in the Arab-Israeli conflict, will continue to benefit from the interest of the international community with a view to settling it definitively.

Morocco followed with keen interest the meetings held December 15-16 in Washington and lauds their upcoming continuation, the department said.

Morocco also lauds this step as important since it is likely to give a new impetus to the bilateral and multilateral tracks in the peace negotiations and to the Middle-East peace process as a whole, the release said.

Morocco hopes that the negotiations cycle resumed in Washington following the huge efforts made by the United States will contribute to the establishment of a fair and global peace in the Middle East, the release said adding that Morocco has been resolutely endeavoring for this peace for a long time.
