International companies offer to participate in halted Iraqi electricity projects
Iraq said that some of the international companies specializing in the electricity sector presented offers to ratify contracts to export equipment, machines and spare parts needed by Iraq in this field.
The manager of the electricity sector, Salah Ysef, said in a press statement yesterday that these companies showed a readiness to complete the work on stations for generating electrical energy, in which work had stopped since 1990.
The Iraqi official said the international companies left the work in establishing these stations because of the Gulf War in 1991, in addition to stopping exports of the necessary equipment due to UN economic sanctions.
