Ben Ali begins implementing pledge for political multiplicity, human rights
The Tunisian authorities allowed the convening an assembly comprising hundreds of students and union leaders as well as members of the Amnesty International organization.
Severe criticism was addressed during the assembly, which convened last night in the Tunisian capital, against violations of human rights in Tunisia.
Sources in Arab human rights organizations said this step will help create a new atmosphere of political progress in the policies of Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Ben Ali, who undertooks supporting human rights and political multiplicity in the country after being reelected in November.
