A 70% increase in Moroccan-Austrian trade

Originally published

Trade exchange between Morocco and Austria recorded a 70% increase totalling 623.7 million Dhs in the first eight months of the year, instead of 365.3 million Dhs for the same period last year.

Morocco has become a major economic partner, commercial adviser of the Austrian embassy Heinz Paumgarten told MAP, adding that the consolidation of cooperation ties with the kingdom translates into stronger austrian presence in the sub-Mediterranean, Arab and African regions previously ignored for Russia and central-European countries.

Most of Moroccan exports to Austria consist of textiles and garments, farming and sea-products and phosphates.

Cooperation also expands to investment and industrial projects in railways, car-industry, electric power, high technology and major projects such as the Casablanca underground.

Paumgarten urged Moroccan entrepreneurs to explore openings in Austrian markets and called for a large Moroccan-Austrian joint commission to monitor and use potentials and opportunities in the two countries.
