Moussa: It is necessary to provide Arab security net to support Syrian negotiator

Originally published

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa asserted the importance of providing an Arab security net to support the Syrian negotiator in the coming stage through a coordination machinism that provides such support for any Arab negotiator.

"Such a mechanism, that could be set up through consultations at bilateral, trilateral or multilateral level, can provide support for all Arab negotiators," Moussa said.

In a press statement yesterday, Moussa said that Egypt cares about the Lebanese track as much a the Syrian one, "However, there are no specific Egyptian contacts in this regard," and the Lebanese "did not call us but the Syrians did."

"Egypt also maintained contacts with Israel," Moussa said.

He said that talks on the Israeli - Syrian track do not pose an obstacle to the Palestinian - Israeli track. "The Palestinian-Israeli track has its own line parallel to that of the Syrian," Moussa said.
