Report: Syrian prisoner Yasser al-Mu'zin returns to Syria
Following more than ten years in Israeli jails and detention camps, freed Syrian prisoner Yasser al-Mu'azen arrived in Damascus on Sunday night. He was welcomed by his family and a large number of citizens and Syrian Parliament member Mudhat al-Saleh.
In an arrival statement to Tishreen daily, al-Mu'azen expressed his great happiness to be back home. "This is the happiest moment in all my life," he said.
He expressed thanks to the sides concerned which helped his release, especially the Syrian authorities, the International Red Cross and the people of the Golan who helped him to stay steadfast against the Israeli measures.
Al-Mu'azen was arrested in 1989 while he was carrying out an operation against the Israeli forces in south Lebanon. He was sentenced by the Israeli military court for 25 years.
Tishreen said that due to the practices against him in prison he had kidney failure and has become obliged to undergo kidney dialysis three times a week. As a result of the direct pressure of the relatives of the detainee, the ICRC and the Syrian Ministry of Health al-Mu'zen was released.
