On Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon

Originally published

Al-Quds newspaper issued in the occupied Arab territories said, according to well-informed sources, that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak intends to postpone debates over a unilateral withdrawal from south Lebanon until next April.

In a report the paper issued on Monday, it added that this decision aims at not undermining the possibilities of reaching an agreement with Syria as Barak believes that debates as such may reduce the possibility of reaching a peace agreement with Syria.

The sources added that Barak sees that a withdrawal agreed on with Syria is better than the withdrawal unilaterally.

The sources indicated that Barak unveiled his stand in reply to demands by several members of the Israeli mini Cabinet to hold debates on options of withdrawal from south Lebanon, very soon.
