Israeli forces on Monday shelled the outskirts of Barachit town. Lebanese security sources reported the artillery's shelling was accompanied by mopping-up operations with machine guns.
The Israeli forces renewed on Monday their attacks on areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon, especially the hills and heights of the al-Tuffah district and the central sector.
Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery bombarded the woods of Sujoud, al-Rayhan, Aqmatya farm, al-Rafee mountain, the Litani river area; al-Tasse spring area, Hajir Valley and the hills of Mleita and al-Lweizeh.
The bombardment was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire that targeted the mountain roads that link al-Tuffah district to the occupied part of south Lebanon.
In retaliation, the Lebanese resistance said in a statement that one of its groups attacked five positions of the Israeli occupation and its allied militia inside the occupied strip of south Lebanon. The statement said direct hits were scored, and several Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded.
Another Lebanese resistance statement said the resistance men attacked, using rockets and heavy machine guns, the positions of Sujoud, Balat, Rashaf and al-Qasir and al-Hardoun.
The statement added that several vehicles in the positions were destroyed, and a number of Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded.
