Princess Lalla Meriem launches children projects
Princess Lalla Meriem, sister of King Mohammed VI, is scheduled to launch this Thursday several projects for children, part of Morocco's commemorations of the 10th anniversary of the UN convention on children rights.
The princess serves as chairwoman of the national observatory on children, of the children parliament and of the Moroccan association supporting the UNICEF.
She will dedicate the UNICEF post cards selling campaign focusing on girls schooling before dedicating a center for the counselling and protection of ill-treated children. She will also visit a pilot sports compound for children.
The sports compound comprises handball, volleyball and minifoot stadiums, two tennis courts, and a car driving-learning circuit with all real life road signs and markings.
The center for the counselling and protection of ill-treated children will be providing services directly or by phone to children and coordinate with hospitals to give counselling and legal assistance. The center could also interfere with the specialized administrative and judiciary authorities regarding violence acts to identify cases of ill-treatment against children.
The center will conduct studies and participate in developing and carrying out training programs on the phenomenon as well as compiling and following up judiciary decisions and books on the issue.
