Abu Marzouk heads today for Qatar to meet with expelled Hamas leaders

Originally published

Well-informed Palestinian sources in Damascus said that Hamas political bureau member Mousa Abu Marzouk and several of the movement's members from Syria will head today from Syria to Qatar to discuss the affairs of the movement and ways of its moves with its four leaders who were expelled by the Jordanian authorities on Sunday.

They are the movement's political office chairman, Khaled Mashaal; its spokesman, Ibrahim Ghoshe; and Hamas members Izzat al-Rashq and Sami Khater.

The sources added that Hamas has fears that Doha had given guarantees to Amman to keep those leaders for a while in Qatar before permitting them to leave, as they are intending to move to Damascus, in an informal way.

In Amman "circles" close to the four expelled Hamas leaders said that they had assigned the chairman of the Jordanian Bar Association, Saleh al-Armouti, to file a case against the Jordanian government for the forced expulsion of the Hamas leaders in an illegal way, a matter which constitutes a violation of the Jordanian constitution.
