Al-Bashir may visit Cairo next month
Well-informed sources in Cairo said that Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir may visit Cairo next month. On Sunday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said such a visit by the Sudanese president to Cairo "is to be held," but he avoided specifying a date for the visit.
Al-Bashir's last visit to Cairo was in June 1996, during which he took part in the Cairo summit with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
During that meeting, the two presidents agreed to proceed with improving relations between the two states and to work to eliminate obstacles and differences.
Meetings between the Sudanese and Egyptian foreign ministers have helped eliminate disputes between the two states and prepare for the meeting between al-Bashir and Mubarak.
