Morocco proposes permanent Arab committee of solidarity and struggle against poverty
Morocco proposed at the Arab social affairs ministerial council's ongoing 19th session the creation of a permanent Arab committee to promote social solidarity and reduce poverty.
Morocco's secretary of state for solidarity and humanitarian action, Hammou Ouhalli, told the meeting on Sunday that his department is ready to make to the council's technical secretariat concrete proposals on the committee. Such a committee, he said, will enable a better coordination of humanitarian action in the Arab states and promote a regional approach to alleviating poverty.
The Moroccan official also briefed his Arab peers on the solidarity campaign staged in Morocco last October under the supervision of the Mohammed V Foundation of solidarity and fighting poverty.
The council is discussing means of boosting social actions in Arab states, reports of the technical secretariat's activities.
