Iraq refuses extension of oil-for-food program

Originally published

Iraq on Saturday refused to deal with the UN resolution on extending the oil-for-food program for 15 days, a resolution released by the UN Security Council on Friday.

In a statement in Baghdad, Iraqi Foreign Minister Muhammad Said al-Sahaf said this decision is "meaningless," practically speaking, as nothing can be done during the extension periods of two weeks and because of that, "Iraq will not deal with the said UN resolution."

The current phase of the oil-for-food program ended on Sunday night.
