Moroccan Press Union Submits to Prime Minister Memo on Media
The Moroccan press union (SNPM) has submitted Monday to prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, proposals for the improvement of the work and material situation of journalists.
The SNPM secretary general said the memo contains the union's general vision on the Moroccan media and a set of proposals regarding the role of information in development and democracy promotion, the needed reforms and the material situation of journalists.
The union called for an urgent meeting with the recently-created ministerial commission to look into a new press law.
The Moroccan prime minister said that the government is fully aware of the need to develop the information sector and that ministerial and expert meetings are scheduled to look into ways of promoting the sector.
