Originally published

The federation of Arab News Agencies FANA is holding its 27th general assembly in Casablanca this November 16-17.

The meeting will debate the report of the FANA secretariat general on training sessions and workshops organized by the federation, as well as the federation's relations with professional groupings and communication institutions.

Dialogue between Arab news agencies on the one hand and European and international ones on the other is also on the agenda.

The managers of the Arab news agencies will debate a set of technical and financial issues as well as the program for year 2000.

The general assembly will elect a new chairman for the federation, his two assistants and the secretariat general members.

FANA was set up in 1974 with the aim to consolidate professional relations between Arab news agencies and disseminate Arab news abroad.

FANA held its 10th general assembly in Casablanca in 1981 and its 19th conference in Rabat in 1991.
