Originally published

French prime minister, Lionel Jospin, praised in Marraakesh Friday Morocco's choices, its stability and the place it holds in French external relations.

"Alternation in power, and the new reign are sources of hope and trust for the Moroccan people and of the admiration of Morocco's friends," said Jospin in a press conference he gave with Moroccan peer, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, following the 3rd annual meeting of the joint high commission (Nov.5-6).

The prime minister, who was received on Friday by King Mohammed VI, said France considers Morocco as a privileged partner which, owing to its choices, can be a model.

On his part, Youssoufi called the European Union to honor its commitments, adding that France and Morocco have agreed to adopt a common strategy in the upcoming multilateral trade negotiations so that developing countries enjoy measures and preferences that would facilitate their development.

Regarding relations between Morocco and France, the Moroccan and French prime ministers hailed the friendship ties binding the two countries and the quality of debates and discussions of the joint high commission.

Youssoufi added that five cooperation agreements were signed at the end of the Moroccan-French talks.
