Algerian, Palestinian condemnation of Mauritania's diplomatic relations with Israel

Originally published

A group of Algerian dignitaries and national parties have condemned the step taken by Mauritania in establishing diplomatic relations with Israel.

The said parties and figures called on the Arab league to move for preventing normalization with the "Zionist entity."

On Tuesday, the Algerian daily al-Bilad said that the Algerian political and national forces which held a meeting in this regard are moving now to establish an anti-normalization committee.

Meantime, a coalition of Palestinian forces has also condemned Mauritania's establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel. It announced its rejection to all agreements of "liquidation and surrender" as well as all current normalization attempts. The coalition also warned against the consequences of this step against the Arab national security and the just rights of the Arab states.

In a statement issued in Damascus on Tuesday, the Palestinian coalition described this step taken by Mauritania, with the blessing of the US, as a flagrant defiance to the feelings of Arabs and Muslims and "a treason for the cause of Palestine and a violation to the charter of the AL and the OIC."

The coalition urged in its statement the AL and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to take appropriate measures against Mauritania and to unmask all normalization attempts with Israel, SANA reported.
