Turkey provides Israel's needs of water

Originally published

Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said Turkey would provide Israel's needs of water, as Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak described Turkey as being an intimate country for Israel in all fields, especially when the Israeli visit achieved its goals.

Barak succeeded in his political task as the Turkish officials received him amid political and informational concern after his return from Davaria city, where he distributed the houses built by the Israelis for victims of the Turkish earthquake.

Barak met in the Cabinet building with Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit in the attendance of the Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem.

In 1996, Israel and Turkey signed an agreement in the framework of military cooperation. The said agreement raised strong criticism in the Arab states and the countries neighboring Turkey. The two sides also carried out a series of military maneuvers and signed cooperation agreement in the fields of armament.

In this respect, the Turkish daily Radikal said on Monday that Barak's talks in Turkey centered on military issues and water. The paper indicated that Ankara will raise the proposal pertaining to joint production of missiles.
