Morocco in Mediterranean-Russian Forum

Originally published

Morocco will take part in a forum to gather in the Balearic Islands this October 22-23 officials from Russia and Mediterranean countries.

The forum, dubbed "forum formentor," seeks to set up a platform of dialogue between countries having different interests.

Debates on political, economic, cultural and social issues will be moderated by personalities of different ideologies, origins, religions and thought, the forum organizers said at a news conference in Madrid on Tuesday.

The forum will be opened by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria, they said.

The head of the Moroccan delegation to the forum, Minister of Economy and Finance Fathallah Oualalou, will chair a working session on economic issues.

The political debate will be chaired by Spanish Foreign Minister Abel Matutes, while Emma Bonino, a former European Commissioner, will moderate a roundtable on socio-cultural issues.

The forum is sponsored by a Spanish banking and financial group.
