Khatami gets a message from Demirel

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami received a message from Turkish President Suleiman Demirel on Monday. The message was received during Khatami's meeting with the envoy of the Turkish president.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Iran and Turkey were reviewed. The Iranian president and the Turkish official stressed the two countries' desire to develop these relations in various political, economic, security and cultural areas.

Khatami said that developing relations with the countries of the region is the most important among the Iranian foreign policy principles. The Iranian president welcomed the forthcoming visit of the Turkish president to Iran.

He added that such visits and the exchange of delegations will contribute to strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Iran and Turkey.
