A tense situation in Askalan prison

Palestinian sources reported over the weekend that a tense situation has spread inside Asqalan prison where Palestinian security prisoners are held. The tension, the sources said, followed a number of measures taken by the prison authority against the prisoners.

Fayez Al Zurba, an attorney who represents security prisoners, said that he visited the prison four days ago and that prisoners told him the prison authority has prevented their children from visiting them during the regular visitations. He added that the prisoners complained of strip searches conducted upon them by wardens.
