Khartoum accuses opposition of obstructing national rapport process
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael said his government adheres to the Egyptian - Libyan initiative and accused the opposition of obstructing the rapport process.
He said the government main stance is reconciliation adding that it didn't seek it out of weakness.
Moreover, he added that the insertion of the Egyptian initiative with the IGAD initiative needs more study, saying that the foreign ministers of Egypt, Libya, and Sudan agreed in their meeting in the Libyan city of Syrte to coordinate between the two initiatives, saying the insertion between them perhaps creates some susceptibilities, and the other party may refuse it.
Meanwhile, Ismael said there was a meeting held between US envoy Harry Johnston and the permanent delegate of Sudan to the United Nations on Friday in New York, where the US envoy spoke about the nature and aims of his task, while the Sudanese official confirmed the stance of Khartoum towards this issue, saying that what was said in the meeting is a matter of study from the government.
