New earthquake in Cairo

Originally published

An earthquake took place yesterday in Cairo and in some Egyptian governorates.

The earthquake observatory announced that the power of the earthquake reached 5.2 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was southeast of Bani Swaef. No reports came of losses of life or accidents as a result of this earthquake.

Meanwhile, Abdel Fatah Glal, the head of the Egyptian national institution for astronomic sciences, confirmed that there was no relation between this earthquake and the one that rocked Cairo in October 1992, adding that it is expected that the aftershocks of Bani Swaef earthquake will take place yet the power of these aftershocks will be mostly less powerful than the earthquake.
