Tunisia's representative in Israel assumes responsibilities
Diplomatic sources in Tel Aviv confirmed on Monday that Tunisia's new representative to Israel, Tareq Azouz, assumed his assigned responsibilities on Sunday.
Azouz will replace Khamis al-Jahnawi as the chairman of the office for supervising Tunisian interests in Tel Aviv, a post which has been empty since al-Jahnawi returned home in July 1998.
Tunisian Foreign Minister Saeed Bin Mustafa told last month the director general of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Yu'af Beiran, that the Tunisian representative will return to Israel following the "the detente achieved in the peace process after Barak's government assumed power in Israel."
