Shamoun opposes settlement of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon

The chairman of the Lebanese Liberal National Party, Douri Shamoun, has called for adopting a Lebanese united stand in opposition to settling thousands of Palestinian refugees in the Lebanese territories.

In a statement to the AFP on Monday, Shamoun said negotiations will be resumed shortly and that Lebanon should not go to the negotiating table without having a "firm stand" that refuses to settle the Palestinian refugees.

Shamoun said pretexts given by the Americans, Canadians and Australians to encourage settling the Palestinian refugees have no place in Lebanon because of Lebanon's small area and the high unemployment rate.
