$400 Million in donations from Gulf states to reconstruct Turkey

Originally published

The Gulf states, with many suffering budgetary constraints, decided to specify $400 million for the reconstruction of the areas destroyed due to the earthquake which hit Turkey on August 17, adding that this decision came at the conclusion of a meeting held by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, recently held in Jeddah.

The concluding statement that was made public after the meeting said the contribution of the six GCC states to reconstructing the destroyed areas comes in appreciation for the historic, cultural and Islamic ties between Turkey and the GCC states.

The council decided regarding this matter that a joint technical mission from the GCC states is to pay a soon visit to achieve this task by determining which projects will be financed in agreement with concerned fronts in Turkey.
