King Mohammed calls Cabinet members to follow up development projects in southern provinces
King Mohammed VI on Wednesday gave instructions to Cabinet members to follow the various development projects underway in the Moroccan southern provinces.
During a ministers' council, he chaired in the Moroccan southern city of Marrakesh, King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by his younger brother Prince Moulay Rachid, urged the cabinet members to visit the southern provinces to assess the progress of projects.
The king also invited the ministers to get informed on the local citizens' needs with a view to carrying out new projects.
Morocco has been endeavoring since the retrieval of the southern provinces in 1975 to hoist the region's development level to that reached by the northern parts of the Kingdom. Large development and infrastructure projects have been carried out in the southern provinces in such a short period of time.
Full-fledged cities and towns, endowed with all the necessary means for a modern and decent life were constructed in the area, that was under the Spanish occupation, a desolate desert.
