Economic census in Morocco in 2001

An economic census, the first of its kind, will be conducted in Morocco in the year 2001 to list all enterprises and economic units.

The announcement was made by the minister in charge of economic forecasts and planning, Abdelhamid Aouad, in a statement to MAP.

The census will be conducted by centers to be set up at the level of chambers of commerce, industry and services, Aouad said.

The Moroccan official also announced that a general population and housing census will be conducted in year 2002.

The latest such census was held in Morocco in 1994.
