Bouteflika plans to spare militants gallows

Originally published

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said that the extremist militants would be spared from the gallows, whatever their crimes, if they surrendered under a peace plan which will be the subject of a referendum in the coming month.

Bouteflika added that the law for the civil reconciliation is all about the Algerian country's will to forgive all those who have not committed unforgivable crimes, but he confirmed that the national tragedy currently prevents him from even mentioning the words "general amnesty."

Bouteflika stated that 100,000 persons have been victimized due to the seven years of violence in Algeria.
