Developing countries want international negotiations to review negatives of globalization
The leaders of trade, industry and services chamber for the Group of 15 (G-15) developing countries are to hold a meeting in Cairo on October 2 to agree upon a final formula for the statement to be submitted to the third ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization in the US city of Seattle on November 30.
The draft statement set by the general trusteeship of the trade, industry and services chambers' union for the G-15 asks the WTO to call for a new and urgent round of international negotiations to discuss the situations of the developing countries with its all economic, financial and commercial purposes, in addition to the negative effects of the agreements of the Uruguay round on these countries.
The statement says the more progressive countries do not implement their commitments to support the developing countries and help the poorer countries. The statement adds that the way to resolve this is to guarantee the transfer of technology to confront the world dangers resulting from the great expansion of the technology and knowledge and the gap in those areas between the poor and rich countries.
