Nine Boeing planes for Algerian airline

Originally published

Algerian diplomatic sources in Cairo stated that the state-owned Algerian Airline company would buy nine Boeing 737 planes, starting in July 2000.

The sources quoted the company's manager, Mohammed El-Taeb Ben Ewiss, as saying that the company will receive the first plane of this type on July 1, 2000.

The company is to receive the rest of the nine 150-seat planes in October 2000. Mohammed El-Taeb added that this plan comes within the framework of upgrading the company to be able to face international competition.

The company's fleet currently contains 29 planes, most of which are made by Boeing.
