Originally published

The governor of Sanaa Naji al-Soufi on Wednesday conveyed a warming from the Yemeni government to the Bani Jabr tribe in eastern Yemen, which holds two French hostages, as well as calling for releasing the couple unconditionally and very soon.

The two hostages are an expert in teaching the French language at the cultural section of the French embassy in Sanaa and his wife, an archaeology expert. They were kidnapped on Friday by the Bani Jabr tribe, which wants the Yemeni authorities to pay a ransom to release the couple.

The police besieged Serwaj, a mountainous area, which is controlled by the tribes, where the two French citizens are being held

In Aden, the court of appeals will start on September 16 reconsidering the case of the eight Britains and two Algerians who were convicted of terrorism in Yemen.

The charges addressed to the arrested are "establishing a gang for carrying out terrorist explosions in Yemen" in Aden, especially against the British consulate, the UN headquarters in Yemen, one church and one hotel.
