King Mohammed receives Moroccan political leader

King Mohammed VI received in Rabat on Monday, Mahjoubi Aherdane, secretary general of the National Popular Movement. The National Popular Movement is participating in the center-left coalition government, led by socialist Abderrahmane Youssoufi.

King Mohammed VI had already received -- in separate meetings -- leaders of several opposition and majority parties.

The official spokesman of the Royal Palace, Hassan Aourid, said last week that King Mohammed VI received leaders of Moroccan political parties at their request to present their condolences to the king following the demise of King Hassan II and that the king will receive the leaders of the other parties who wish to present their condolences.

The spokesman had said that King Mohammed VI thanks the political parties -- leadership and grassroots -- for their sympathy with him and the royal family in these painful circumstances.
