King Mohammed receives speaker of Iraqi National Assembly

Originally published

King Mohammed VI received in Rabat on Monday the speaker of the Iraqi National Assembly, Saadoune Hammadi, who extended him condolences on behalf of the assembly members and of the Iraqi people, following the demise of King Hassan II.

Saadoune Hammadi also extended condolences to Abdelouahed Radi, Speaker of the House of Representatives -- the lower house of the Moroccan parliament -- at a meeting in Rabat.

The Iraqi official paid tribute to the late sovereign for his tireless action to cement Arab ranks, settle conflicts through peaceful means and fulfil the Arab-Islamic nation's aspirations.

During the meeting that also reviewed means of consolidating relations between the two parliaments, Radi renewed the Moroccan parliament's call for the lifting of the embargo imposed on Iraq and for an end to the Iraqi people's sufferings.
