Morocco's Siham Hanafi, best athlete of the pan-Arab games.
Morocco proved during the ongoing 9th pan-Arab games, held in Jordan, that it is the incontestable leader of Arab athletics.
The Athletics contests helped discover a new generation of Moroccan athletes, entirely trained at the Moroccan Athletics institute of Rabat.
Thanks to its rising female athletes, who gleaned a total of 10 Arab titles, Morocco ranked first in the overall standing with 11 gold medals, 12 silver and 10 bronze, ahead of Tunisia (11 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze).
Siham Hanafi --winner of three gold medals (100 m, 200 m and 100 m relay)-- gained the title of best athlete of the 9th edition of the pan-Arab games.
World 1500 m Junior Champion, Adil Kaouch, was also one of the brilliant athletes of the Amman games. The men's 5000 m race, won by Kaouch, was one of the toughest races.
While Ibrahim shifted to highest speed 300 meters before the finish line, Kaouch followed his steps, waiting until the last 100 m to fly away leaving his challenger in complete bewilderment.
After the Pan-Arab games, the cream of these mounting heros will fly to Seville (Spain) to measure with World champs, a first step on a long and demanding but promising international career.
