Mubarak receives Arafat today

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received Palestinian President Yasser Arafat today to discuss the Middle East peace process.

Arafat arrived this morning in Alexandria.

Top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told ArabicNews.com that the meeting between the two presidents comes in the framework of joint coordination between them and Egypt's efforts promote peace in Middle East.

He added that the two leaders emphasized the importance of implementation of the Wye River accord, Israel's withdrawal from the occupied territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and implementing the transitional agreements before starting final status negotiations.
