US jets strike Iraq

Iraq said today, that a mosque was destroyed and three persons were injured during air attacks launched by US and British jets against Iraqi targets in northern Iraq.

An Iraqi spokesman said the southern areas in Iraq were also exposed to air raids, but the Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery forced the US and British jets to return to their bases in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The military spokesman said that the anti-crafts hovered over the Kurdish towns of Ohol and Irbel, in addition to the northern town of Mosul.

He added that the US jets launched two attacks against mosques, leading to the destruction of one mosque.
