UN teams find no medical emergency in area allegedly attacked with chemical weapons
UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said yesterday that United Nations teams visiting the areas of Arua and Yei in Sudan found that UN staff and local residents who reported headaches, nausea and watering eyes after a bombing raid, sparking allegations that the Sudanese government had used chemical weapons, found that these people all seem to be recovering and that there was no evidence of an acute medical emergency there. He added that blood samples were taken and will be analyzed by the Centers for Disease Control in the United States.
The Sudanese government denied the allegations, stressing that it doesn't even possess such weapons.
