An explosion in a market in Istanbul

Three persons were wounded as a result of an explosion that took place in one of the markets in Istanbul. The explosion which is thought to be resulting from a gas leak that took place in one of the industrial areas in al-Bazaar Souk, which is the most remarkable tourism site in the city.

Meanwhile, Turkish security forces revealed that there was an assassination attempt against Turkish judge Turgot Okai, the chairman of the court who sentenced the death penalty to Abdullah Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistani Workers Party (PKK).

The Anatolia News Agency said on Thursday that the Turkish security forces arrested one member of the PKK who was planning to assassinate the judge. The agency added that his court had released the death sentence against Ocalan on June 29.
