Prime minister praises support for press freedom

Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, who chairs the governing board of the Moroccan news agency MAP, sent a condolence message to King Mohammed VI following the demise of the Late King Hassan II. Youssoufi expressed to the sovereign deep affliction and sadness over the demise of the Father of the Nation, the Late King Hassan II, on behalf of MAP governing board members, MAP director and employees.

MAP governing board met on Aug. 5 to debate issues related to the development of the news agency.

The Prime Minister recalled in his message the extreme solicitude that the Late Sovereign bestowed on the information sector and the press family.

Youssoufi voiced conviction that King Mohammed VI will follow the enlightened path traced by Late King Hassan II to achieve Morocco's aspirations to glory, grandeur and prosperity.

Youssoufi, who highlighted King Mohammed VI's qualities recognized by all and attachment to individual and collective freedoms and to human rights, especially the right to information and to the freedom of speech, expressed firm conviction that the Sovereign will continue his Late father's work for the renovation and modernization of the information sector and enable it enter the third millennium with resolve.
