Palestine opposes the delay of Barak to Wye River accord
The Palestinian government announced that Israeli Prime Minsiter Ehud Barak has announced delaying the implemenation of the Wye River accord until October and to end this implementation in March 2000.
The secretary of the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Mohammed Abass (Abu Mazen), said yesterday that delaying the implementation is considered as procrastination by Barak aimed at continuing his plan to change or modify the agreement, which is completely refused by the Palestinians.
Abu Mazen added that the Israeli government and the Knesset have previously approved the Wye River accord during November 1998, as Barak and his Labor Party also approved the agreement at that time, demanding its implementation within weeks.
Abu Mazen questioned why Barak is delaying its implementation until October and why the agreement's execution will take six months.
