Moroccan government has no information about preparations for meeting between King Mohammed and Israeli premier
The Moroccan government has no information concerning preparations for a meeting between King Mohammed VI and Israeli Premier Ehud Barak, said government spokesman Khalid Alioua.
The spokesman made the statement in answer to a question by a journalist during a press briefing in Rabat on Thursday following the Cabinet's weekly meeting.
King Mohammed VI met Ehud Barak on July 25 in Rabat during the funerals of the late King Hassan II.
Hopes for the revival of the Middle-East peace process -- stalled during the tenure of former Israeli Likud Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -- were rekindled following the election of Labor leader Ehud Barak.
On the morrow after this election and after the formation of the Barak government, Morocco had said it was "upbeat" over the policy of the new Israeli prime minister and the "positive points" in his program and that Rabat "will stay ready to back the Middle East peace process whenever it is asked to do so."
